On Monday, Google introduced a new Chrome feature for iOS that allows users to easily switch between work and personal Google accounts. Previously, users had to sign out and log back in each time they wanted to access a different account.
In a blog post, Google noted that “many people use their phones for both work and personal activities, often managing multiple Google Accounts,” which previously required frequent sign-ins and sign-outs. With the new update, Chrome now supports managed account browsing, enabling strict data separation and smooth account switching.
When users sign in or switch to their work Google account in Chrome, all organization-related browsing is kept separate from personal activity on the device. Local data like tabs, history, and passwords remain confined to the managed account. According to Google, this setup benefits both users and IT administrators.
Supporting Personal Devices in the Workplace
The update follows Google’s observation that many organizations are shifting away from issuing company phones, leading employees to access work resources on personal devices. Google says the enhanced account switching and data separation features help businesses support employees using their preferred devices.

When users first sign in or switch to a managed account, an onboarding screen will appear explaining how managed account browsing works and how their organization manages data.
Organizations retain control over how existing browsing data is handled during the initial sign-in or account switch. Once users switch to a managed account, they’re notified they’ve entered a managed environment.
Google also revealed the addition of enhanced security features that IT teams can now use.
