Hisense’s sub-brand Vidda has unveiled a new high-performance home cinema projector in China, named the C3 Ultra. This 4K projector is the first to incorporate the MCL39 tri-color laser light source, which promises superior brightness and vibrant color reproduction.

C2’s Successor Could Be Heading for Global Release

Following the release of the C2 series of Tri-Chroma projectors last October—previously tested in the Chinese market ahead of a global rollout—Hisense now introduces the C3 Ultra, a model likely to lead the international expansion of the lineup. However, no official confirmation on its global release has been given yet.

What sets the C3 Ultra apart is its cinema-grade MCL39 laser system, featuring two red lasers, one green, and one blue. The design team created this configuration to drastically boost light output and color fidelity. Online retailer JD.com also certified the projector’s brightness and offers compensation to customers if it falsely advertises its brightness.

According to the company, the projector delivers 3,200 CVIA lumens, a Chinese standard meant to reflect real-world brightness perception. Although there is no standard for directly converting to ISO or ANSI lumens, experts estimate that this output roughly equals 2,560–2,880 ISO lumens or 2,400–2,720 ANSI lumens.

DLP Projection Engine and Advanced Optical Zoom

The C3 Ultra uses a DLP projection system built around a 0.47-inch DMD chip. It supports an impressive 1.67x optical zoom, claimed to preserve full 4K UHD resolution across various throw distances. With a throw ratio of 0.9 – 1.5:1, users can project a 100-inch image from just 2 meters (6.5 feet) away or 150 inches from under 3 meters (10 feet).

To simplify setup, the projector includes autofocus, automatic keystone correction, and tools for adjusting the image to fit screens or avoid obstructions. Users can also calibrate the colors for non-screen surfaces. The system covers 110% of the BT.2020 color space, and boasts Delta E color accuracy under 0.9, surpassing many LED projectors and even high-end TVs.

Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Support with High Contrast

Hisense Vidda built in support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and IMAX content. Dynamic contrast reaches up to 14,000:1, and the manufacturer claims zero color shift, banding, fan noise, brightness irregularity, harmful blue light, or exaggerated specifications.

Under the hood, the projector runs on MediaTek’s flagship MT9681 processor, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It also integrates DeepSeek’s AI assistant, offering smart features tailored for gaming, education, and entertainment.

Streaming capabilities come standard, likely via Vidaa Smart TV for global markets, although Google TV could also be an option. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, while wired inputs feature HDMI 2.1 with eARC, gigabit Ethernet, USB-A, and analog/digital audio outputs.

JBL Sound System with 200-Watt Subwoofer

Hisense Vidda equipped the C3 Ultra with dual 10-watt JBL speakers and a 200-watt gimbal-mounted subwoofer to deliver immersive Dolby, DTX, and Hi-Res audio performance.

Hisense Vidda has positioned the C3 Ultra at the top of the new C3 lineup to replace the previous C2 series. It’s available now in China for ¥11,999 (around US$1,670), although listings on Alibaba show prices closer to $1,489.
