HP Is Introducing Snapdragon Chips Into Its Budget-Friendly Laptops

HP is delivering a significant upgrade to its OmniBook 5 Series laptop. Unveiled during Computex 2025, the new models feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X and X Plus processors, aiming to boost both performance and energy efficiency. Pricing starts at $799 for the 14-inch model, while the 16-inch version begins at $849.

Affordable Access to Snapdragon Power

Previously, if you wanted the performance benefits of a Snapdragon chip in an HP laptop, you had to invest in the higher-end OmniBook X models, which started at around $1,000. These premium laptops offered powerful ARM processors but were out of reach for many consumers due to their steep pricing. However, HP has now changed the game by introducing more affordable options within the OmniBook 5 series.

These new models bring the same advantages of Snapdragon chips—such as improved battery life, energy efficiency, and performance—at a significantly lower cost, making the technology more accessible to a wider audience. By offering these budget-friendly alternatives, HP is democratizing access to ARM-based computing, allowing users to enjoy the latest in mobile processing without the premium price tag.

While the OmniBook 5 Series isn’t as powerful as the OmniBook X, it still supports Copilot+ AI features such as Recall, Click-to-Do, and an enhanced Windows Search experience.

Powerful Features

All of this is packed into a laptop featuring a 2K OLED display, offering up to 34 hours of battery life and the ability to recharge to 50% in just 30 minutes. If one screen isn’t sufficient, the OmniBook 5 also supports a single 5K external monitor or dual 4K displays.

To meet all your virtual meeting needs, HP’s latest laptops come equipped with a 1080p IR camera and Audio Boost 2.0 technology, delivering enhanced sound quality and AI-driven noise cancellation.

HP has outlined its rollout plan for the OmniBook 5 Series with Snapdragon chips. The 14-inch model will debut in June, initially available on Amazon and the Microsoft Store, targeting tech-savvy online shoppers. By July, it will expand to HP’s website, Best Buy, and Costco for broader access.

The 16-inch version will also be available in July through HP and its retail partners, offering a larger screen for work and entertainment. This phased release is aimed at both early adopters and mainstream consumers, building momentum for HP’s affordable Snapdragon-powered laptops.
