Earlier on Tuesday, Cloudflare reported on its status page that it had identified a problem affecting multiple customers. Users experienced widespread 500 errors, and both the Cloudflare Dashboard and API were failing.
Cloudflare Restores Key Services After Temporary UK Disruptions
While addressing the issue, Cloudflare temporarily disabled certain services for users in the United Kingdom.
The company stated, “We have made changes that have allowed Cloudflare Access and WARP to recover. Error levels for Access and WARP users have returned to pre-incident rates. We have re-enabled WARP access in London. We are continuing to work toward restoring other services.”
Other affected services included Shopify, Dropbox, Coinbase, the online game League of Legends, Moody’s, and NJ Transit. Moody’s website showed a 500 Error and directed users to Cloudflare’s website for more information.
Cloudflare and Cloud Outages Expose Infrastructure Risks
San Francisco-based Cloudflare offers internet infrastructure that safeguards websites against online threats.
Last month, Microsoft rolled out a fix after an outage in its Azure cloud portal prevented users from accessing Office 365, Minecraft, and other services. According to Microsoft’s Azure status page, the disruption was caused by a configuration change within its Azure infrastructure.
In October, Amazon also faced a major outage of its cloud computing services. Although the company resolved the issue, the outage disrupted a wide array of online platforms, including social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming, and financial services.
