In recent years, Samsung has consistently launched two foldable phones at its Unpacked event. This time, Samsung adds the budget-friendly Z Flip7 FE alongside the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, expanding its foldable lineup.
Samsung has focused on making its latest models thinner than their predecessors. In terms of pricing, the Z Fold7 now starts at $1,999, $100 more than the previous version. Meanwhile, the Z Flip7 maintains its $1,100 starting price. The newly introduced Z Flip7 FE is priced at $899, aiming to attract consumers interested in foldables under $1,000.
Z Fold7 Gets Lighter and Slimmer Design Upgrades
Samsung’s latest foldable flagship, the Z Fold7, is slightly lighter than its predecessor, weighing in at 218 grams compared to the Fold6’s 239 grams. It’s also noticeably slimmer, with a folded thickness of 8.9 mm, down from 12.1 mm.
The Fold7 features a larger cover screen—a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display—while the main display expands to 8 inches when unfolded. Under the hood, it runs on Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

Samsung says the phone is now more durable, thanks to a redesigned hinge and hinge housing. The display is also shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for added protection.
The new model features a 200-megapixel main camera with an f/1.7 aperture, a significant upgrade from the 50-megapixel camera used in last year’s version.

Samsung has enhanced its photo editing software with AI features. The new Photo Assist tool can automatically move, erase, or resize objects, and adjust angles. It also uses generative AI to fill in gaps in images. Additionally, users can view both the original and edited versions side by side on the unfolded screen.
The Z Flip7 is slimmer this year, with a larger 4.1-inch cover display and a 6.9-inch main screen. For durability, Samsung has equipped it with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back.
Z Flip7 Packs Largest Battery Yet, Powered by Samsung’s Exynos Chip
The Z Flip7 also includes a 4,300 mAh battery—the biggest yet in the Flip lineup. Unlike the Fold7, which runs on Qualcomm’s 3nm chip, the Flip7 is powered by Samsung’s own 3nm Exynos 2500 processor.
The Z Flip7 FE, on the other hand, closely resembles the previous Z Flip6, with a 4,000 mAh battery, a 3.4-inch cover screen, a 6.7-inch main display, and the Exynos 2400 chip.
Samsung is introducing DeX support to the Flip series for the first time, allowing users to connect the phone to a monitor and use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for a desktop-like experience.
New ‘Now Bar’ Brings Real-Time Updates to Foldable Cover Screens
The new foldables also include a feature called the Now Bar, which appears on the cover screen and functions similarly to iOS’s Live Activities—displaying real-time updates such as podcast progress or delivery status.
Another addition, Now Brief, provides a snapshot of traffic, calendar reminders, fitness data, and events, along with personalized music and video suggestions based on your subscriptions.
Samsung has introduced support for Gemini Live on the Z Flip7’s cover screen, allowing users to access the assistant without unfolding the device. It also works seamlessly with Samsung Notes.
Gemini Live Brings AI-Powered Camera and Video Features to New Foldables
Additionally, all the new Z Flip and Z Fold models will support Gemini Live’s camera and video AI capabilities, enabling users to capture photos or videos and ask the AI questions about them.
These devices will also feature an enhanced version of Google’s Gemini assistant, which now includes an AI-powered mode for more conversational, Q&A-style interactions.
