Siemens Power and Bentley Systems Present Asset Efficiency Monitoring Options for Oil & Gas Operators

Bentley Systems, Inc. (Bentley) and Siemens Energy have unveiled a collaborative solution called Assets Performance Management for Oil & Gas (APM4O&G), which utilizes intelligent analytics to reduce operating expenses related to oil and gas assets. This joint solution combines Bentley’s advanced asset performance software capabilities (AssetWise) with Siemens Energy’s technology and service expertise to help operators optimize asset performance, minimize downtime, and lower maintenance costs.

APM4O&G, part of Siemens Energy’s Omnivise digital solutions portfolio, supports maintenance activities across various assets, including onshore compressor terminals, gas processing plants, offshore production platforms, and floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels. By leveraging predictive analytics and condition-based approaches, the solution optimizes maintenance schedules, extends asset life, and reduces maintenance expenses for compressor terminals and gas processing plants. Offshore, it aids operators in reducing logistics costs associated with unplanned maintenance activities and optimizing the utilization of limited laydown and storage areas based on risk-based maintenance strategies.

In addition to asset monitoring, the APM4O&G solution enables powerful diagnostics and risk analysis scenarios to maximize plant uptime. This includes failure mode impact analysis, an operational health index of equipment, and estimates of remaining useful life for specific components of the overall system.

Laura Anderson, Head of Siemens Energy Services Controls & Digitalization business, highlighted the value of the strategic partnership with Bentley and how APM4O&G will help customers manage maintenance costs, enhance equipment reliability, minimize the risk of incidents, and improve the overall performance of oil and gas infrastructure.

The introduction of APM4O&G follows the successful launch of an APM solution for nuclear power plants by Siemens Energy and Bentley Solutions in 2018. Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley, expressed excitement about the ongoing partnership with Siemens Energy and the joint efforts in leveraging IoT, intelligent system diagnostics, and performance digital twins to drive efficiency and performance improvements in the maintenance of oil and gas assets.
