To make its AI DJ more engaging, Spotify is rolling out an update that allows users to give voice commands to request songs or adjust the playlist’s vibe. This new interactive feature, available only in English, is launching in over 60 markets for premium subscribers.

From Passive Playback to Personalized Interaction

Previously, the AI DJ simply played music with occasional commentary. Now, users can actively interact with it—asking for different moods or genres, or requesting songs by specific artists.

Users can find the AI DJ by typing it into the search bar, then press and hold the DJ button in the bottom-right corner to give voice commands. For a quick mood change without a specific request, simply tap the DJ button once.

Spotify’s AI DJ Goes Global and Multilingual, Adds Playlist Creation via Text Prompts

Spotify initially introduced its AI DJ feature in February 2023 for users in the U.S. and Canada, expanding it globally in August 2023. Later that year, the platform added a Spanish-speaking version of the DJ. Another major AI tool from Spotify allows users to generate playlists based on text prompts.
