Have you ever imagined what gyms might look like in the future? If you think AI won’t transform fitness spaces, think again. The Abu Dhabi Department of Health has launched the “Gym of the Future,” redefining personalized fitness. Organizers unveiled this digital wellness concept on the opening day of Abu Dhabi Global Health Week on Tuesday.
Driving Longevity Through Smart Fitness Innovation
Ibrahim Al Jallaf said the “Gym of the Future” aims to help people live longer, healthier lives while staying active as they age.
The experience starts as soon as a person walks into the gym. Advanced sensors identify the individual and create a digital twin using data from the Sahatna app, Abu Dhabi’s health and wellness platform.

This digital profile enables the system to design a personalized workout plan based on each individual’s health data and needs. Once the plan is set, users begin exercising. For example, the gym’s treadmill uses a camera to track heart rate, posture, workout duration, and give real-time feedback.. All this information is saved in the Sahatna app for continuous tracking.
Post-Workout AI Scans for Instant Injury Detection
After workouts, users can instantly assess muscle or tendon strain via AI-powered scans, viewing detailed images and analysis of specific body parts.

Next comes nutrition. An AI nutritionist recommends meals based on past data and energy needs, with a final evaluation summarizing the day’s personalized insights.
A Holistic Approach to Longevity and Well-Being
Al Jallaf also emphasized that longevity is a central focus. He explained that the “gym of the future” promotes healthier lifestyles and better nutrition, boosting lifespan and quality of life.
