WhatsApp Finally Rolls out App for IPad Users

Meta announced on Tuesday that WhatsApp is now officially available on iPad. The newly released app lets users make audio and video calls with up to 32 participants, share their screen, and switch between the front and rear cameras. Until now, iPad users had to access WhatsApp through a web browser.
Enhanced Multitasking with iPadOS Features
According to the company, users can make use of iPadOS multitasking tools like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over. These features enable activities such as running multiple apps simultaneously, chatting while browsing, or planning a group trip during a call. On a phone, doing these tasks would typically require switching out of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp says the new iPad app is also compatible with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.
Seamless Syncing Across Devices with End-to-End Encryption
The new app lets users sync their chats, calls, and media across iPhone, Mac, and other devices, while still ensuring end-to-end encryption for privacy and security, WhatsApp says.
The release of the standalone iPad app wasn’t entirely unexpected, as WhatsApp’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) hinted at the news with a subtle post the day before.
It’s also worth mentioning that Instagram, another app owned by Meta, is reportedly developing its own iPad version.
The standalone iPad app is now ready for download on the App Store.
