Valet parking jobs could be overtaken by robots in the near future.

Automated systems that can replace human workers in managing vehicles across parking lots worldwide are already in operation.

How the robotic parking platform works

Among the different versions of this emerging technology, one notable system features a small wheeled platform powered by electricity. It moves beneath a vehicle, lifts it onto supports, and transports it either to a parking spot or back to the customer waiting to retrieve their car.

Through videos, one can observe what looks like a modern “skateboard” lifting and steering vehicles. This innovation is already being used in parking facilities in Hong Kong and by Hyundai to efficiently move cars around its factory.

Faster parking and better use of space

Beyond improving speed, the device also helps maximize the use of allocated parking spaces.
