Momentis Surgical ™ announced that Medical City Plano acquired the Anovo ™ Surgical System for transvaginal benign gynecological procedures, including benign hysterectomies. They are the first medical facility in Texas to use this system.

Anovo ™ Surgical System

The Anovo System is the first and only FDA-authorized surgical robot with miniature humanoid-shaped arms, with shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints that imitate a surgeon’s precise movements for high agility and dexterity. It is designed to allow the minimally invasive transvaginal approach for benign gynecological procedures, including hysterectomy, salpingectomy, oophorectomy, adnexectomy, as well as ovarian cyst removal.

Anovo is made to make it possible for surgeons to make use of the transvaginal approach in gynecological procedures, which has been well documented in clinical research as giving benefits including less patient pain and scarring, much shorter healing times, and lowered infection rates, contrasted to other approaches.

A more sustainable option

The Anovo System also calls for a much smaller footprint. Also, it costs significantly less than conventional robot systems, making it possible for more medical facilities and ambulatory surgery centers to get the system and offer even more patients the perks of less invasive robotic surgery.

According to Thomas P. Heffernan, MD, an exercising gynecologic oncologist at Medical City Plano, incorporating a smaller, lighter, and even more affordable robot surgical platform will permit much more rural areas, smaller medical facilities, and surgery centers to offer minimally invasive surgery, leading to more patients having accessibility to the most updated and least invasive surgical alternatives. They are proud to be the first in Texas to embrace this amazing new technology and make it available to patients.

Better care in women’s healthcare

Dvir Cohen, CEO, and Co-Founder of Momentis, says that they delight in seeing substantial progress in bringing the Anovo Surgical System, the first surgical robotic of its kind, to more healthcare facilities and patients over the U.S., including acute care hospitals such as Medical City Plano. In the months to come, they will continue their efforts to expand the system’s availability and enrich gynecological surgery to allow more surgeons to do the clinically favored transvaginal method, establishing a greater standard in women’s healthcare.
