
In its latest expansion move, Waymo announced Tuesday that it will deploy its autonomous vehicle fleet—including the Jaguar I-Pace SUV and the Zeekr van—in Denver and Seattle, beginning this week.
Waymo’s initial phase in both cities will involve human drivers.Testing in Denver and Seattle—chosen for their extreme weather—will pave the way for a planned robotaxi service, targeting a Denver launch next year and Seattle pending permits.
A Growing Fleet and Strategic Expansion
These new expansions are part of Waymo’s rapid growth across the U.S. The company’s commercial fleet now exceeds 2,000 vehicles, with significant concentrations in San Francisco (800), Los Angeles (500), Phoenix (400), Austin (100), and Atlanta (dozens). Furthermore, Waymo has announced upcoming commercial services in Dallas, Miami, and Washington, D.C., and has received a permit to begin testing in New York City.
In addition to its core markets, Waymo has also conducted preliminary testing in other cities, including Philadelphia, and has announced plans to expand these exploratory road trips to Las Vegas, San Diego, Houston, Orlando, and San Antonio.
