As AI technology becomes increasingly integrated into various aspects of our lives, Eatron Technologies and Syntiant have combined their expertise to develop an AI-powered battery management system (BMS) aimed at enhancing battery performance.

The AI-BMS-on-chip can extract an extra 10% capacity from a battery and extend its lifespan by up to 25%.

It achieves this by providing significantly more accurate monitoring of the battery’s State of Health (SoH) and State of Charge (SoC) compared to traditional BMS units.

Real-Time Battery Performance Evaluation with Syntiant’s NDP120

Syntiant’s NDP120 Neural Decision Processor evaluates battery performance in real-time, utilizing predictive diagnostics to detect potential issues early. It then makes decisions to prevent failures, enhance battery safety, and optimize overall performance.

The AI-BMS-on-chip holds significant promise for the EV industry, spanning from cars to personal eVTOL aircraft, by enhancing range and extending battery lifespan, potentially saving consumers substantial costs.

With its predictive capabilities, the technology also mitigates the risk of battery failures during critical moments, such as commuting at heights of 200 feet in a personal aircraft like the Jetson.

Conventional lithium-ion batteries typically have a lifespan of about 500-1,000 charge cycles before degradation sets in.

Potential Cycle Extension with Eatron Technologies’ AI BMS

Eatron Technologies’ AI BMS could potentially increase this range to 625-1,250 cycles. LiFePO4 batteries, increasingly used in off-grid and RV applications, can endure over 5,000 charge cycles with a standard BMS.

The NDP120 has the potential to elevate these numbers to an impressive 6,250+ cycles.

Eatron is currently showcasing its AI-BMS-on-chip technology at The Battery Show Europe 2024 in Stuttgart, Germany.
