Google announces that artificial intelligence (AI) will be integrated into the company’s search engine.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, revealed that the company plans to integrate conversational artificial intelligence (AI) features into its search engine. Pichai further stated that the potential for AI chatbots is now more significant than ever.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Pichai mentioned that Google’s ability to handle different search queries would improve due to advancements in AI technology. He acknowledged the rapid progress the company has made in AI development, citing the introduction of Bard AI and new features in Gmail and Google Docs under Workspace. These updates are starting to become available to users.

“We have been integrating various functionalities into our products, but now the capabilities have significantly improved, presenting us with tremendous potential to achieve more,” he stated. Sundar Pichai also explained that they are currently working on implementing this technology on a larger scale while ensuring efficiency in terms of computation. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that there are trade-offs that need to be considered.

Bard AI

Pichai stated that with the help of Bard AI, Google can now manage a vast array of innovative and cooperative scenarios. Additionally, Pichai acknowledged that although they have been utilizing LLMs to improve the quality of search results and the user experience, they aim to integrate advanced LLM capabilities into the search engine directly. Pichai emphasized that their priority is to ensure that these features meet users’ high expectations, and they are currently working on achieving this goal.

Furthermore, the company plans to leverage this technology to enhance users’ experience on its search engine. Pichai affirmed that users would be able to ask Google questions and interact with LLMs (language and learning models) within the context of search.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both computer science PhD students at Stanford University in California, established Google on September 4, 1998. As of now, they own approximately 14% of the company’s shares that are publicly listed and possess 56% of its voting power through super-voting stock.
