Google introduces new AI features for Gmail, Docs, and Google Meet

At Google I/O 2025, the company introduced a range of new AI features for Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Meet. Key updates include personalized smart replies and a new inbox-cleaning tool for Gmail, while Google Meet is gaining enhanced content creation and editing options.
Personalized smart replies in Gmail will assist in drafting emails that align with your context and tone. The feature will pull details from your previous emails and Google Drive to offer response suggestions with relevant information. Google claims this will eliminate the need to sift through your inbox and files. Additionally, the replies will adjust to your tone, whether formal or casual.

The new inbox cleanup feature, powered by Gemini, can now help you delete or archive unnecessary emails. For example, you can instruct Gemini to “Delete all my unread emails from The Groomed Paw from last year.“
Simplified Scheduling for Meetings with External Contacts
Gmail is also introducing a feature to simplify scheduling appointments and meetings with people outside your organization. It allows you to easily offer available times for clients or customers to book with you. Gemini will automatically recognize when you’re setting up a meeting and prompt you to use this feature. Google says this will save time and reduce the effort spent coordinating schedules.

All of these new Gmail features will be available in a few months.
Enhanced Writing Assistance in Google Docs with Trusted Sources
In Docs, you can now directly link decks, data, and reports into a Google Doc, with Gemini pulling from these sources only when providing writing assistance. Google says this will ensure suggestions are based on trusted content, keeping your writing relevant and accurate. This feature is available starting today.
Google also revealed that Google Meet will soon allow you to turn existing Google Slides into videos. This feature will let you transform presentations, like a sales deck or quarterly review, into a video. Gemini can assist in generating scripts, voiceovers, animations, and more. It will be generally available in a few months.

AI Avatars for Video Messaging in Google Meet
For companies lacking the budget for video production or the right spokesperson, Google Meet is introducing AI avatars that can deliver messages. You can write a script and choose an avatar to present it in a polished video. Google suggests this feature can be used for onboarding, announcements, product explainers, and more. AI avatars will be available in Google Labs next month.
Additionally, Google Meet will launch a “transcript trim” tool that automatically removes filler words like “um” and “ah” from videos. Users will also gain a “balance sound” feature to adjust sound levels throughout their videos. Balance sound will be available next month, while transcript trim will be in Labs in a few months.
Google also announced that users can create more detailed visuals using Imagen 4, its latest image-generating model, across Workspace tools like Slides, Docs, and Vids.
