Text-to-Speech and Voice Effects, two new features that TikTok users are used to, have been added to Instagram Reels.

This graphic depicts the new video function for Instagram called “Reels” on a smartphone facing a screen that displays the Instagram logo, on August 6, 2020 in Los Angeles. On August 5, Instagram introduced a novel short-form video function to the platform that focuses on images as a direct response to TikTok. According to the Facebook-owned company, “Reels” offers tools for editing, audio, and effects while allowing users to shoot films of up to 15 seconds.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, the recently added functions are now accessible under Instagram’s Reels area, which is similar to TikTok.

It happens when Instagram tries to make TikTok’s battle more intense. The latter has overtaken another massive platform belonging to Google, the video-sharing website YouTube, to become the most popular social networking platform.

As a result, Instagram is introducing more features that are modeled after TikTok in an effort to benefit from the rising popularity of the Chinese social media network.

How to Use Instagram Reels’ Text to Speech

In particular, Social Media Today reports that Instagram now gives users the option to add “Text to Speech” audio to their Reels footage.

The aforementioned TikTok-inspired functionality enables users to add an artificial voice to read the text they have entered and added as a text overlay to their Reels video.

Only two voice choices are now available to users of Instagram’s “Text to Speech” Reels functionality.

The option may be located alongside the text tool of the Reels camera, according to the announcement of the social networking giant controlled by Meta, which was formerly Facebook.

Instagram also said the new function might “add fun and humor to your Reels.

Additionally, according to the social media network, it enables users to “get creative” without having to utilize their actual voices in their clips.

It’s important to note that TikTok has been providing its users with the exact same “Text to Speech” capability since 2020. As a result, a lot of TikTok videos feature a robotic, monotone voice as the narrator, which has graced a ton of popular videos.

How to Use the Voice Effects on Instagram Reels

The other latest function that Instagram added to Reels enables users to make amusing voice changes.

The extra Voice Effects function, according to the social media platform, is “a tool that allows you to change the audio and/or voiceover in your Reel.”

The app’s Reel camera part also has the new feature, which might be included in the video.

Users can hide their genuine voice in their Reel footage by using the robot, vocalist, and helium voice-altering options available in the Voice Effects menu.

Text to Speech and Voice Effects in Instagram Reel: How to Access

Once users update to the most recent version of the social network app on Android and iOS, they will be able to utilize both the newest Reels tools that Instagram has already released: Text to Speech and Voice Effects.
