SwitchBot’s New Matter Hub is Also a Temperature and Humidity Sensor
Last month at CES 2023, many of the new smart home items featured also work with Matter, which should not be a shock, given what it is currently available. Furthermore, jumping on that news is SwitchBot, which has just presented its new Matter Hub. Though, it does more than include support for Matter.
It is officially called the SwitchBot Hub 2 and has Matter support. It will function with Google Home/Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple’s HomeKit/Siri, and much more. With the SwitchBot Hub 2 supporting Matter, all of its Bluetooth-linked devices are incompatible with Matter. Furthermore, it can be controlled with Hey Google, Hey Alexa, or Hey Siri.
The SwitchBot Hub 2 does a lot more than simply add Matter support
If Matter had not been enough to make you dream of this hub, here are some more features. It also has an infrared interface, so you can make things like your older television or your remote-controlled air conditioner smart now. It even has an LED display on the hub that can reveal the temperature and humidity levels in your house, which you can also read out to you if you are across the space or perhaps in one more space.
This hub additionally has 2 scene switches on the front. This can be customized via the SwitchBot app, but generally, they can be programmed to cause a custom setup or any other actions for your smart home products. It can also be utilized as a single shortcut for a device you’ve got connected.
There’s also the SwitchBot Hub Mini. It provides basically the same functions as the Hub 2, but without the temperature and Matter support. Now, SwitchBot has yet to mention whether they will include Matter support in the Hub Mini or not. It will likely be included in one way or another. Whether via a software update or a new version (due to hardware limitations).
