For viewers who want their TV to follow them around, Samsung has unveiled a new option. The Moving Style model features a 27-inch QHD touchscreen, Dolby audio, a rechargeable battery, a kickstand with a built-in handle, and a full smart entertainment hub.

    Familiar Concept, New Competitor

Sound familiar? That’s because LG released something similar earlier this year. Much like the StanbyMe 2, Samsung’s version can be wheeled from room to room using its stand or detached and carried by hand for on-the-go entertainment.

The 27-inch panel offers the same 2,560 x 1,440 resolution as LG’s model but doubles the refresh rate to 120 Hz, making it far more suitable for fluid mobile gaming. On top of that, Samsung has included AI-driven image optimization, enhanced color technology, automatic HDR remastering, and its Smart TV interface for live channels and streaming services via Wi-Fi 5.

    Smart Features and Creative Options

Users can mirror content from smartphones using Google Cast or AirPlay, and they can control the TV by voice through Bixby or Google Assistant. The unit also comes with fitness-friendly features. When not streaming shows, users can transform the display into a digital art frame, choosing from more than 3,500 works in Samsung’s online gallery, or let AI generate artwork from a text prompt.

The TV includes a built-in web browser for casual surfing and a dashboard of useful apps that displays daily information. For kids, there’s even a sketching app, though input is finger-only since stylus support is not provided.

The TV runs on a 69-Wh battery for portable use. Connectivity options include one HDMI 2.1 port with 120-Hz support, two USB slots, and optional webcam compatibility for 1080p video calls. A 10-W two-channel system with Dolby Atmos delivers the sound.

    Portable Entertainment at a Price

Altogether, the Moving Style serves as a compact, versatile entertainment solution—perfect for moving around a home, fitting into small apartments, or traveling in an RV. Currently, it’s available only in Samsung’s home market at a price of KRW 1,440,000 (about US$1,000), though signs suggest a global launch could follow soon.

  • Samsung’s Ballie Companion Bot Arrives in Stores This Summer

Samsung’s Ballie Companion Bot Arrives in Stores This Summer

Samsung’s Ballie still looks friendly as ever, and includes the built-in projector and camera we saw last year
    Samsung

A year after disappearing from the spotlight, Samsung has once again promised that its adorable companion robot, Ballie, will hit the market this Northern Hemisphere summer.

    A Recap of Ballie’s Journey

The small robot was first unveiled in 2019, made waves at CES 2020, and then vanished until it reappeared at last year’s edition of the event. In its early versions, Ballie simply rolled around the house and controlled some smart devices.

In the updated version, Samsung added a built-in 1080p projector, allowing you to display workout videos wherever you move around the house, show recommended recipes as you dig through the fridge, and stream footage from your doorbell camera when someone arrives at the door. Here’s a look at it in action at CES 2024:

Now, the company says Ballie is even smarter, thanks to integration with Google Gemini AI running in the cloud. This enables the robot to process voice and audio commands, collect visual data through its camera, and use sensors to understand its surroundings.

More Personal Assistance for Your Everyday Life

According to Samsung, Ballie will be able to analyze how your clothes fit, suggest styling ideas, and even offer wellness tips — all in response to natural language commands. It will also be capable of adjusting your lighting and setting reminders.

The company plans to launch the robot this summer in the U.S. and South Korea, though pricing hasn’t yet been disclosed. That’s likely to remain uncertain for the next few months, especially amid the ongoing tariff unpredictability tied to President Trump.

With Google’s multimodal Gemini AI on board, Ballie should be able to respond to conversational voice inputs with health and fashion recommendations, and adjust your smart home devices too

    The Future of Household Robots

If you’re looking for even more hands-on help around the house, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Humanoid robots from Figure are expected to begin in-home alpha testing later this year. Meanwhile, Norwegian startup 1X showcased its Neo Gamma robot performing household tasks back in February, and plans to begin testing it in “a few hundred to a few thousand” homes by the end of 2025.

Among the various product announcements in Samsung’s CES press kit last year, a brief mention stood out: the world’s first 8K projector with wireless connectivity. The Premiere 8K, still not released, has already earned the first certification from the 8K Association.

Key Players in the 8K Association and Certification Standards

This association consists of major players in the home entertainment industry, such as Google, Panasonic, TCL, and Samsung, though LG is notably absent, despite introducing the world’s first 88-inch 8K OLED TV in 2018.

One of the Association’s roles is to create performance and interface standards for manufacturers. They launched the certification program for 8K TVs in 2019, and have now developed minimum specifications for 8K projectors, covering areas like resolution, brightness, contrast, color accuracy, dynamic range, and immersive audio.

Samsung’s Premiere 8K Sets the Benchmark for 8K Projectors

While companies like Hisense and JVC have already entered the 8K projector market, Samsung reports that the 8K Association has chosen its upcoming Premiere 8K model as the first to receive the new certification, citing the projector’s strong performance in all major categories.

Samsung has yet to reveal all the details about the premium ultra-short-throw projector, but they have released a few official images. When used, a cover will rise to expose the laser light source, delivering a 7,680 x 4,320 pixel image up to 150 inches diagonally. Samsung promises “vibrant, lifelike visuals” even in bright rooms, with a brightness rating of 4,500 ISO lumens.

The Premiere 8K will include a One Connect box, acting as the central hub, wirelessly transmitting content from up to 33 feet (10 meters) away for “seamless streaming without complex setups,” similar to LG’s Zero Connect Box and the Displace system.

Cloud Gaming and Advanced Features for Seamless Experience

Standard features include cloud gaming, the ability to split projected visuals into four sections for multi-view, far-field microphone support for always-on voice control, and a picture-off option to stream music through the sound system.

The sleek enclosure houses a powerful 100-watt, 8.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos speaker setup, along with Samsung’s Sound-on-Screen technology, which uses the top speaker unit and algorithms to make the sound appear to come directly from the screen.

For now, that’s all the information available. With CES 2025 approaching, Samsung is expected to reveal more details, including pricing and availability. We’ll just have to wait and see.
