Apple is Reportedly Planning to Increase the Prices of its Upcoming iPhones

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple intends to raise prices for its upcoming iPhone models, set to launch this fall. However, the company is reportedly aiming to avoid directly linking the price increases to U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports. Instead, Apple is considering attributing the hikes to other factors, such as new features and designs, as per sources within the supply chain.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple intends to raise prices for its upcoming iPhone models, set to launch this fall. However, the company is reportedly aiming to avoid directly linking the price increases to U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports. Instead, Apple is considering attributing the hikes to other factors, such as new features and designs, as per sources within the supply chain.

Apple Faces $900 Million Tariff Cost, Shifts iPhone Imports to India

Apple is anticipated to face a $900 million cost due to higher tariffs in the third quarter, though the company has yet to confirm whether the U.S.-China trade conflict will affect its product prices. To offset the impact of tariffs, Apple has also increased its imports of iPhones from India instead of China.

U.S. and China Suspend Tariffs for 90 Days; Tech Sector Exemptions Granted

On Monday, the U.S. and China agreed to temporarily suspend their reciprocal tariffs for 90 days to allow for further negotiations. Additionally, the Trump administration has granted significant tariff exemptions for the tech sector, especially for smartphones, laptops, hard drives, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment, though the previously imposed 20% tariff on Chinese goods remains in effect.

Apple is expected to unveil an ultra-thin iPhone later this year, according to multiple reports. The company also has more ambitious plans for 2027, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggesting that Apple may eliminate the iPhone’s cutout entirely by then. For the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, Apple is rumored to release a “mostly glass, curved iPhone” with no cutouts. This would mirror the company’s previous major redesign with the iPhone X in 2017, marking the smartphone’s 10th anniversary.
