Google revealed on Friday that it is revamping Google Finance — its platform for market data and business news — with artificial intelligence capabilities. The upgrade will allow users to research financial queries through AI, explore enhanced charting features, and access real-time market data and news updates.

Smarter Answers to Complex Financial Questions

With the new AI integration, users can pose detailed finance-related questions and receive comprehensive, well-structured answers that include links to relevant sources. Instead of manually searching for individual stock data, investors can now get information on multiple aspects in a single query.

The enhanced charting tools will help users visualize financial trends beyond basic asset performance. Google notes that users can now display technical indicators, such as moving average envelopes, or switch views to candlestick charts and other advanced formats. The platform is also expanding its market data to cover commodities and more cryptocurrencies.

Another addition is a live news feed that streams real-time headlines, allowing investors to stay instantly informed about market-moving events.

Positioning Against Financial News Rivals

This overhaul appears aimed at competing with established platforms like Yahoo Finance and Seeking Alpha. By embedding AI-driven answers and advanced visualization tools directly into Google Finance, the company hopes users will stay on the platform rather than turn to AI chatbots like ChatGPT for deeper insights.

The AI-enhanced version will gradually launch in the U.S. over the coming weeks. Users will be able to switch between the updated and classic interface based on their preference.
