Technology has come way too far, isn’t it? Today we more often hear about a Neuralink´s coin size device capable of making humans control several devices just with their thought. Well, this has also implications for important fields such as Medicine and AI-Integration.

Neuralink

Neuralink is a neurotechnology company co-founded by Elon Musk in 2016. Its primary goal is to develop brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies to connect the human brain with external devices and computers. The company’s vision is to enable direct communication between the brain and machines, with the ultimate aim of enhancing human capabilities and treating neurological disorders.

Neuralink’s Fundamental Concept

The core concept behind Neuralink is to create a brain implant device, known as the “Neuralink device,” which consists of a collection of 1024 ultra-thin electrodes or threads. These threads are implanted into the brain’s neural tissue to record brain activity and also to stimulate specific regions of the brain. The goal is to establish a high-bandwidth, bidirectional communication link between the brain and external devices.

The potential applications of Neuralink’s technology are vast and could revolutionize various fields:

• Medical Applications: The technology could help individuals with neurological conditions, such as paralysis, spinal cord injuries, or neurological disorders, by providing a way to control external devices or even regain motor functions.
• Brain-Computer Interface: Neuralink aims to create a direct interface between the human brain and computers, enabling seamless interactions, data transfers, and the ability to control digital devices through thought alone.
• AI Integration: Elon Musk has expressed concern about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence (AI). He believes that by connecting humans directly to AI systems, we could maintain better control and avoid potential risks associated with runaway AI.

The Insertion Machine 

In order to implant the electrodes was created an Insertion Machine that not only Incertes the Neuralink´s Device on the brain but also detects the Safe Cerebral Zone by visualizing whether there is a vessel or not, locating the best place for the implant.

However, Elon Musk ensures that everything is being done according to the standard and under rigorous patterns and that the company will only release products and procedures after strong tests.

Neuralink is still Under-Construction

It’s important to note that Neuralink’s technology is still in the early stages of development, and there are significant technical and ethical challenges to address before it can become widely available. The company is conducting research and development and has performed experiments on animals and, had begun conducting early human trials, recently.

As with any cutting-edge technology, Neuralink’s developments continue to be closely watched by both the scientific community and the public due to the potential implications, benefits, and ethical considerations surrounding brain-computer interfaces.

The future is brighter but also mingled with risks. it is a Way Forward with no return. The main areas are Human Body-Humanoids, Medicine, Civil Engineering, and the Environment.
