TikTok announced on Wednesday a range of new features aimed at improving safety and user experience. These include expanded parental controls, new tools for creators, and an interactive wellbeing feature. The platform also publicly launched Footnotes, its fact-checking system.
As part of the update, TikTok is enhancing its Family Pairing tool, which lets parents link their accounts with their teen’s to manage safety settings. Now, parents can block specific accounts from interacting with their teen or appearing in their feed.
Alerts Keep Parents Updated Without Limiting Teens’ Creativity
In addition, parents will receive automatic notifications when their teen uploads public content, such as videos, stories, or photos—a move TikTok says is meant to keep parents informed without limiting their teen’s creative expression.

Parents now have greater insight into the privacy settings their teens choose. For instance, they can see whether a teen aged 16–17 has allowed downloads of their content or if their following list is visible to others.
TikTok is also introducing “Creator Care Mode,” a new feature that automatically filters out comments flagged as offensive, inappropriate, or profane. It also screens out comments from users whose remarks are frequently reported, disliked, or deleted.
AI Learns Creator Preferences to Better Filter Harmful Comments
According to TikTok, the feature uses AI to learn from a creator’s moderation behavior. If a creator consistently deletes or reports specific types of comments, similar comments will be less likely to appear in the future.
Additionally, a new tool for TikTok Live gives creators the ability to block specific words from their comment sections entirely. Anyone who has used or uses the blocked word will be muted for a set period determined by the creator.
