Ultra-thin E Ink Tablet Boosts Mobile Productivity with AI Features
Hong Kong startup Viwoods has integrated AI technology into its 10-inch e-note tablet to enhance ePaper productivity for users on the go. The AI features include voice interaction, text summarization, meeting minute-taking, and grammar correction.
E Ink tablets, such as the Remarkable 2 and PocketBook InkPad Eo, are valuable tools for mobile productivity, particularly for individuals who, like me, prefer quickly jotting down ideas or reading books and documents on a screen that’s easy on the eyes.
Ultra-Slim Design with Advanced E Ink Technology and High-Resolution Display
“The AiPaper e-note is remarkably slim at just 4.5 mm (0.17 in) thick and weighs only 370 g (13 oz). It boasts the latest Carta 1300 black-and-white E Ink technology, known for its faster response time, smoother page turns, and reduced ghosting compared to earlier models. The screen offers a resolution of 2,560 x 1,920 (300 ppi), with the Mobius display framed by narrow bezels on three sides, and touch navigation buttons located on the bottom edge.”
Distinctive AI Features Elevate the 10.65-Inch E-Note Above Other E Ink Productivity Devices
But what really sets this 10.65-inch e-note apart from the rest of the E Ink productivity crowd is its AI smarts. The onboard algorithmic assistant is on call to help analyze material, organize content, search through information, summarize walls of text, refine content and generate articles, correct grammar, and can even highlight passages or phrases in text that it views important.
Voice interaction is available too, along with “enhanced AI Q&A” and research/writing assistance. The AI can also take meeting minutes with a single click, which can then be shared with team members over file transfer. And screen casting allows the user to share ideas direct to a connected display.
As with other e-notes on the market, the device has a bunch of templates available to ease the productivity flow, along with the ability to schedule tasks, create to-do lists and so on. “The device converts handwriting to text with options to do so as you write, select a block of scribble, or process an entire page at once. This AI-enhanced feature promises unmatched accuracy.”
Stylus Pen with Advanced Features and Enhanced Security Options for Document Handling
“Users can also sign documents with the included stylus pen, which offers 4,096 pressure levels, a durable tip (with spare tips provided), and an integrated eraser function. The device includes a feature for syncing documents with other devices, but these documents are stored for only 24 hours as a security measure (though there may be an option to extend this period for ongoing work). Additional security features include fingerprint scanning and password protection for both the lock screen and individual documents.”
Octa-Core Processor, 4 GB RAM, and 128 GB Storage with Android 13
Inside the slim panel, the device features an octa-core processor paired with 4 GB of low-power RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Some apps come pre-installed, with additional ones expected as development progresses. It operates on Android 13, which likely provides access to the Play Store for downloading third-party apps.
However, the 4,100-mAh Li-ion battery offers about a week of usage (based on 2 hours per day) or up to a month on standby. Key connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Notably, it lacks a built-in screen light and external storage support via SD cards.
To bring the AiPaper e-note to market, Viwoods has launched a Kickstarter campaign. Pledges start at $489 for the 10-inch E Ink tablet, with an 8.2-inch Mini version also available as part of the funded campaign. However, if all goes according to plan, shipping is expected to begin in October. More details can be found in the video below.
