We’ve seen the 1993 hit video game Doom run on ATM machines, refrigerators, calculators, and even pregnancy tests by now, yet have you seen the video game run on a tractor? A guy brought it upon himself to run the loved video game and took it to a completely new level. He Ported Doom into a John Deere Tractor.

Doom came into the video game world in 1993, and not one person could have predicted what kind of impact it would have on the video game sector. Doom, alongside Wolfenstein 3D, practically triggered the age of first-person shooter games that are relevant and still being released today.

Even today, people continue to delight in the classic 1993 Doom as Steam has included the basic yet revolutionary id Software’s video games as a bundle. Possibly what still draws in followers and players towards this old relic. Keeping it in the spotlight is not just a large number of mods and video games; it’s also how people can port it and play it.

Getting Doom Running on a Tractor?

Proficient hacker Sick Codes has adhered to the trend of porting Doom to ridiculous devices to the next level. Wired has reported that the Australian coder succeeded in jailbreaking the computer of a John Deere tractor, enabling farmers to customize and modify their tools. This was displayed at DefCon in Las Vegas.

Not only has this enlightened consumers’ right to repair their products, but it also appears Sick Code did what any normal individual would do when they successfully hacked something. Port Doom to the device. A picture was uploaded to Reddit that displays the video game on the tractor’s screen.

John Deere tractors are well-known. They’ve shown up in the Farm Simulator games and are among the best brands in the agricultural machinery market. Even so, most would not think they’d make an excellent replacement for a video gaming console or first-person shooters.

However, having demonstrated throughout almost 30 years, it’s possible to get the original Doom up and running on nearly anything.

There are lots of unusual devices that Doom has been ported to. We’ve seen Doom ported to a treadmill if gaming while getting some cardio in is your thing. If you inhale flavored smoke and enjoy video games, you could take some hits on a vape pen while playing Doom. Fans have even ported the renowned video game to the iPod Touch and even the now-discontinued Touch Bar on the Macbook Pro.

Whats next?

There’s even been a case of a modder coding Doom and getting it up and running in Minecraft. This classic game has an appeal that makes the legendary FPS perfect for setting up on anything that was not formally meant to run Doom. It makes you think what people will port Doom onto next.

When it comes to Doom itself, it took id Software multiple tries before their video games would considerably influence the gaming market. John Remora mentioned that Doom was his 90th game. He had already invested years working on various projects before it started rolling for the first-person shooter genre. If there’s a lesson to be learned, it’s that developers should not quit on their dreams.

Doom was launched in December 1993 for various systems and has been ported over to several systems throughout the years.

What will be the next thing fans port Doom onto? Let us wait and see.
