So far, surgeons have performed more than 5,000 procedures using the system, including 240 cardiac operations and 32 telesurgeries.

“We have achieved a major milestone by installing over 100 SSi Mantra systems across India and internationally,” said Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations. “The increasing demand for and adoption of the SSi Mantra highlights its advanced capabilities, user-friendly design, cost efficiency, and ability to enhance patient outcomes.”

The company, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, aims to make robotic surgery more affordable and widely available. Its offerings include the SSi Mantra robotic platform and a complete set of SSi Mudra instruments, designed to support a broad range of surgical procedures.

“Our goal is to make advanced robotic surgery more accessible by expanding the deployment of the SSi Mantra in current markets and entering new ones,” Dr. Srivastava added. “To support this effort, we plan to submit a De Novo application to the U.S. FDA by the end of July 2025 for approval across multiple indications, and we’re also progressing toward obtaining CE marking certification in the European Union, potentially by late 2025.”

SS Innovations Completes a Successful Robotic Telesurgical Procedure for Weight Loss

SS Innovations recently announced the successful completion of a robotic weight-loss telesurgery using its SSi Mantra 3 system. The surgical team performed the bariatric procedure across a 560-mile distance, connecting the company’s headquarters in Gurugram with the Mohak Bariatric and Robotic Surgery Centre in Indore. According to SS Innovations, the surgery was performed with flawless precision, seamless robotic control, and no noticeable delay despite the long-distance connection.

The operation involved two One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB) procedures an advanced type of bariatric surgery designed to reduce stomach size and alter the digestive pathway, supporting sustained weight loss and improved metabolic outcomes.

Dr. Mohit Bhandari, a prominent bariatric surgeon and President of IRCAD India, performed the procedures remotely from Gurugram while his surgical team in Indore provided real-time, on-site support.

“With the SSi Mantra 3, we’ve not only showcased the transformative power of robotic telesurgery but also reimagined what’s possible in surgical care. Leading the world’s first robotic weight-loss telesurgery marks a significant achievement in advancing healthcare access and quality,” said Dr. Bhandari, who also founded the Mohak Bariatric & Robotic Surgery Centre.
